Aujourd'hui, l'immigration est devenue un enjeu majeur de la vie politique et sociale des sociétés économiquement développées. Depuis une vingtaine d'années, l'émergence des littératures de l'immigration évoque ce phénomène. Cependant, bien que cette appellation semble aller de soi, elle n'en effectue pas moins une catégorisation qui pose problème et oblige à mettre en question les critères qui fondent les littératures nationales. L'immigration est aussi un discours qui produit ses propres modalités d'écriture. Celles-ci ne prennent tout leur sens que lorsqu'on les situe dans une perspective postcoloniale où les écrivains, au confluent de plusieurs cultures, plusieurs langues, plusieurs imaginaires mettent en œuvre des procédés d'écritures marqués à la fois par l'hybridation et l'hétérogénéité. Où situer ces écritures du | hors lieu |, qui sont à la fois en position d'intériorité et d'extériorité ? Comment les écrivains se définissent-ils identitairement par rapport à leur culture d'accueil ? Quelle est l'aptitude de celle-ci à s'ouvrir à la pluralité ?
